It was reported by known internet forumer that SM Butuan started a massive clearing operations in the area where the giant mall will be built in the future. SM Butuan is projected that it will open in 2015 along the streets of J.C. Aquino Avenue and Pili Drive. The mall is a 5-storey structure with parking lot to be housed in third floor, and a helipad at the rooftop.
Members of the forum were so excited of the development making more the thread alive and kicking (SM Butuan @ Skyscrapercity) as it moves closer to the reality.
It was also believed that the adjacent lot in the opposite side across the street of J.C. Aquino is also bought by SM Butuan for future development.
A reliable source from the Records Section of the BIR shared last month that another set of documents passed through their office for the second property purchased by SM in Butuan. This property was also formerly owned by the D.O. Plaza Holdings. Most likely, this must be the lot at the back of D & V Plaza Building. The second property has a land area of more than 5 hectares. SM must be serious when they had a press release 2 years ago that they will procure around 9 hectares of land in Butuan. The documents of the first lot purchased by SM passed through BIR in 2013 and have a land area of 3.7 hectares. (source: BXU-GCP)
This will gave us the total land area totaling for about 87,000 sqr. meters from the original of 37,000 sq. mtrs., and could be projected as one of the biggest malls in the country. Here’s the photo below to give us the clear picture of the area.
Here are some of the photos last November 15,2014 the ongoing clearing operations.
